This has been the professor's primary research focus since 1997 at Triton college computer learning lab. An incredible group of cheers like folks, we were all just starting to delve into all things computers, under the remarkable leadership of quick thinking department leader / instructor / mentor, Ms. Dugal.

Trend Watching

Besides focusing on the creative side of things, obviously being somewhat eccentric to some folks. In fact in the previous 11 years or so has allowed me to follow almost daily, experiment and study many varied phases, nuances visable and often times not so visable advances (like blogging and podcastig) as they emerged.

I guess that sort of 'trend watching' or closely observing what's what and what's coming next, now allows me to comfortably analyze many aspects of what's going on in today's fast moving tech world, at lease on a few levels. And I can honestly assure inquiring minds, that we're moving immediately into a multi-media world,,,,Online and offline as well.

There are certain blogging people & sources whom smart people ought to know about, listen to and learn from. Regardless of where you are, who you are. Today's technology only responds to those who embrace life long learning. More specifically interactive learning concepts.

New training is now required for most organizations & small businesses or office settings. Not retraining, but new training. Ongoing technical consultation. Lastly, I will say this. If one has not closely followed this tech matrix closely over the past 10 years or so. And observed some of the changes (such as free site building techniques) that are now impacting the world. They and you wouldn't be aware that they simply can't supply you with a proper perspective on what's what.

Aren't African Americans tired of folks crawling over everyone else just to be in charge of this group or that organization. So that they can 'be in control of who gets what help, depending on which organization that you're dealing with at the time.

If the person who assumes any kind of authority or infleunce in those positions has an ax to grind. It's most always at another black person. Mostly boys or men. But as long as they're black, then it's still alright to talk to them any kind of way. Ya'll know this 'slave-like', behavior is epidemic in the community. I DON'T CARE WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE, YOU'RE STILL NO BETTER THAN THE NEXT ONE OF US!

And then there's the one's who think that just because we're not (other folks) that it's alright that we accept any type of lousy, bad attitude while they're serving us. Again, ya'll know it's happening all around us. KEEP TRYING TO ACT LIKE IT'S NOT AND OUR COMMUNITY WILL WITHER AWAY, FROM DENIAL.

If what I see on the buses daily is an indication of what's really happening in our community. Then that means that we're in serious denial! Keep reading, I'm leading to something specific.

There are a number of people who are aware of some of the projects that I've created and developed thru-out many years, in order to upgrade the skills of young African American boys and men (and some girls who were interested in those skills). IT HAS REALLY HURT MANY YOUNG BLACK FOLKS THAT COULD HAVE AND SHOULD HAVE BENEFITED FROM MOST OF SY'S VERY CREATIVE PROJECTS. THEY HAVE INNTENTIONALLY IGNORED , MASTERFULLY MARGINALIZED AND MINIMIZED SKILLS THAT COULD HAVE HEPLED MANY, YOUNG BLACK BOYS AND MEN. AND WHILE THEY ( SUB-CONSCIOUS BLACK FOLKS) WERE IGNORING MY EFFORTS TO TRAIN LOCAL YOUTH, COOK COUNTY WAS PREPARING OTHER WORK FOR THEM.

FUTURE HISTORIANS WILL ASK SOME OF YOU, WHILE YOU SAT BY AND WATCHED, OUR OFFICIALS IGNORE SUCH NECESSARY SKILL BUILDING PROJECTS BY SY. IT IS NOT I WHO HAS FAILED, I HAVE SERVED MY COMMUNITY! AND ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE, SHOULD BE WATCHED VERY CLOSE!

I've collaborated with and mentored folks from: Fred Hampton Sr, Lu Palmer, Philip Jackson, Bruce Montgomery, Calvin Pierce and Mike Maranda and longtime entrepreneur Loretta Ragsdell. I have been a witness! I have been a mentor! Some of us are baby nurthurers! Some of us train them to learn skills! That's what I do! I DON'T KNOW WHY, BUT OUR COMMUNITY STRONGLY TENDS TO NEGLECT THE SKILLS! THAT MUST STOP, IMMEDIATELY!

Here's where I see our collective attention needs to focus now, and in the future.

What particularly will this technology do for me, my family, my career, my neighborhood?

What is it doing to us now! Think about this hard.

What do I need to do, in order to use it to create a better economic situation for all of the above.

Where can I receive a clear, honest view of where to direct my focus in technology, now!

Who's telling it like it is?

Who's acting like they know technology?

Todays Marketing Strategies Must Include Blogging & Podcasting

Todays emerging digital media communications requires ALL serious organizations to be current, aware and involved in todays fast moving blogging and podcasting enviroment. This includes but not limited to: Local school counsul - Suburban PTA's - Any chamber of commerce ought to be very involved in blog technology. There are many, many more. But the 2 areas that I mentioned are directly involved in educating our population and employing them. When these 2 groups lag behind todays technology, our country lags behind. Based @ The Chetwyn Rodgers Drive Development Center on Chicago's westside. Pastor Curtis Rodgers and all around new media information specialist & tech configurator Sy Bounds. Have quietly over the past 2 years, developed a grassroots technology think tank, precisely aimed at impacting and transforming local & national urban schools into mini-technology based think tanks, one school at a time. Without a careful, focused perspective on today's current ( right now) technology, then not only will many urban school children miss the boat, but teachers who can't or won't embrace today's cutting-edge technology will impede serious growth in the very area where black and brown students need it most.

Atitudes ought to be pro-active when it comes to technology, if you're going to teach. Period!

• Speak to your local school council or pta, members and board members. Let them know that you would like for the youth at your school to start immediately to learn how to use 'blogging & podcasting techonlogy, in the same method that we're teaching it at Michele Clark Magnet in The Mid Austin area.
• Sy has designed 3 ways for school groups or chambers to utilize his unique skills. We will explain those ways at the end of this page.

That will change soon. I'd like to say here that almost anyone can embrace this new way of approaching learning. It's more about listening than trying to get your point across. The velocity of many of the creative & innovative methods that are evolving from todays cutting edge technology, will allow YOU to get on board and enjoy this (renaissance..... a movement or period of vigorous artistic and intellectual activity of how information is moved around today), and much more! Far too many geeks are making it more complicated that they should. That's real!

• 1. Every school, organization and chamber of commerce should have weekly podcast, speaking about current, past and future activities. Ya'll don't yet realize that podcasts represent your very own T.V. station. It's the best media that you can have. And That's probably one of the first things for us to discuss and do! 2. As an early researcher on the internet. I started blogging around 1997. We will create audio clips that can and will inform your members exactly what's what as to arranging, developing and maintaining their blogs and podcasts. 3. I will help each and every person in your group how to set-up, design, begin their articles (post), upload photos, videos, creative photo albums and create audio messages everyday from their cell phones. And we have hundreds more tips than I have not mentioned here. 4. There are a number (a growing number) of people who are aware that cell phone technology is the next or emerging area for advertisers and businesses. If you require any type of outreach communication with the public. Then your attention needs to be on everything that is happening in the cell phone area. I can help you there. All you need to do is invite me on board! 5. Next, you need to REALLY understand how important adding current (I mean current) conference call technology to your marketing startegy can be.
